Virtual Therapy Ontario
Secure online sessions from wherever you are, with in-person farm sessions also available near Kingston.
You might be here because…
"I don't have time to drive somewhere and back for an hour of therapy."
"I want support, but I'm not ready to sit across from someone in an office."
"I live rurally, and there's nothing near me."
"I need something that fits around my job, my kids, or both."
"I just want to talk to someone from my own couch."
If any of that sounds familiar, virtual therapy might be the easier place to start.
What is virtual therapy?
Virtual therapy is a full psychotherapy session, delivered by secure video instead of in person. It's not a scaled-down version of therapy — it's the same clinical work, the same evidence-based approaches, and the same relationship, just without the commute.
Sessions are offered across all of Ontario, including areas without easy access to a therapist's office — Kingston, Napanee, Belleville, Brockville, and everywhere in between.
What does this look like?
A 50-minute session by secure video, one-on-one, same as in-person
No app to download or account to create; you click a link at your appointment time
A PHIPA-compliant platform built for healthcare in Ontario, not a consumer app
Sessions from wherever you have privacy: home, your car, a quiet office between meetings
The option to switch to a phone call if your connection drops
You don't need a perfect setup to start. You just need a private space and a device.

What virtual therapy looks like and how it can help
Virtual therapy is a 50-minute space where we slow things down and look at what's actually going on for you, the same as we would in person.
The only thing that changes is the room. The work doesn't.
Sessions may include:
✔ Understanding what your body and mind are doing under stress
✔ Building steadier ground, whether that's anxiety, burnout, or a relationship that feels stuck
✔ Practicing tools you can use right away, in the space you actually live in
✔ Checking in on what's shifted since your last session, without the added weight of travel time
Who virtual therapy is a good fit for
Virtual sessions tend to work well if:
✔ You live outside Kingston or can't easily get to a therapist's office
✔ Your schedule is tight and needs to fit between work, school runs, or shift work
✔ You'd rather start from somewhere familiar than an unfamiliar office
✔ You're managing anxiety, chronic stress, or burnout, and travel itself feels like one more demand
✔ You've done in-person therapy before and already know video works fine for you
It may be worth considering an in-person farm session instead if you're working through something that benefits from being physically outside, around animals, or away from your usual environment. For some people, that change of setting is part of what makes the work land. Both options use the same approach; the difference is only the setting.
Who I Am & How I Work
I'm Cait, a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and a Registered Practical Nurse.
My work is grounded in understanding stress and how it shows up in both your mind and your body. Because I trained as a nurse first, I pay attention to what's happening physically, not just what's going on in your thinking. That doesn't change when a session moves online; if anything, being in your own space often makes it easier to notice how your body is actually doing.
My work is guided by evidence-based approaches, including:
Emotion Focused Therapy
EFT focuses on the emotional patterns underneath what you're feeling day to day. We work on identifying those patterns, understanding what's driving them, and building new ways of responding, all of which translate directly to a virtual session.Nervous System Awareness
Because I'm also a nurse, I pay close attention to how stress shows up physically, in sleep, digestion, tension, and energy, not just how it shows up in your thinking. This matters just as much on video as it does in person; we'll check in on what your body is doing throughout the session.Flexible Format
I actually see clients from all over Canada this way, not just Ontario. Some stick with virtual every week; others use it as their default and pop over to the farm now and then too. And ecotherapy travels better online than you'd think. It's not only about being physically on the farm; it's plants in the room, nature-based metaphors, and honestly, people just love hearing the farm stories. You don't have to live nearby to get that part of the work.
Flexible scheduling options are available, including evenings. Virtual sessions are offered across Ontario, with in-person sessions available on the farm.
FAQ
About the process
-
Yes. Research consistently shows video-based therapy is as effective as in-person for most concerns, including anxiety, stress, and relationship issues. What matters most is the relationship with your therapist and your consistency with sessions, not the medium.
-
I use Zoom for Healthcare, the PHIPA-compliant version built for healthcare providers, not the regular consumer Zoom. You'll get the same private Zoom room link every time, so it's easy to find and join. Nothing is recorded or stored.
-
Yes. A lot of clients do exactly that: regular virtual sessions, with an occasional in-person visit to the farm when it feels useful. We can talk about what mix makes sense for you.
-
If your connection drops, we'll switch to a phone call to finish the session. Therapy can continue by audio if needed. It's not ideal every week, but it works fine occasionally.
-
No. A phone, tablet, or computer with a camera and microphone is enough. No app or account needed; you'll just click a secure link at your session time.
About Virtual Therapy Fees & Insurance
-
Sessions are $180. Many extended health plans cover Registered Psychotherapy, and I provide receipts after every session for reimbursement. I also offer direct billing to Green Shield Canada. It's worth checking with your provider whether your plan covers a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and whether virtual sessions specifically are included.
Getting Started
Finding the right fit matters, whether sessions happen by video or on the farm. A first session offers space to talk about what's bringing you in, ask questions, and get a sense of how I work before deciding on next steps.
If you're feeling unsure but curious, that's often a good place to begin.
